For over 75 years, students and host families have broadened their horizons through Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and over 8,000 students each year participate in the program, which is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs. Typically a full time school student aged 16 to 18 will spend a year in another country living with four families for three months each and attending school. The programs give young students the opportunity to travel, to learn about other cultures, and to make good friends in the process. The Rotary Club of Sydney Cove sponsors students going to other countries, and hosts students who are on exchange to Australia. Currently the Club has a student living in Germany and is hosting a student from Japan.
