Where will the proceeds go?

As an example, the Steve Waugh Foundation is a proud partner of SNUG (Special Needs Unlimited Group). SNUG, founded by Peter King, is an outreach program which supports rural families facing a range of challenges, by hosting week-long residential programs for families with children who suffer from rare illnesses.These families are accommodated at Lake Macquarie’s Myuna Bay Recreational facility, which gives them the opportunity to relax and foster friendships with other families in similar situations, thereby enhancing their resilience and family wellbeing.

Children with special needs and rare illnesses benefit from the SNUG Program through increased access to specialist services and care. The brothers and sisters of these children also leave the program with a greater understanding of the rare illness of their sibling. More importantly, all the families who attend the SNUG camps enjoy a holiday break in an environment where parents are supported, offered respite care and given the opportunity to spend quality time with all of their children. The families have the opportunity to meet with others in similar situations, creating community networks which provide emotional support and longer term well being.
