Rotary and Wrap With Love

For the third year running Rotary (across over 80 Rotary Clubs throughout NSW) has been asked to partner with the ABC and the volunteer organisation Wrap with Love in the delivery of bags of knitted wraps from rural and suburban community knitting groups across to the Wrap Warehouse at: Unit 4/ 4 Huntley Alexandria, Sydney,

This year the ABC will launch its ninth Knit-In on 5 August.  ABC 702 will broadcast from the event.  The ABC has organised drop-off centres around the state at radio stations, libraries and community centres where people can deposit their knitted wraps and squares.  During August local Rotary Clubs will organise to move knitted wraps from the centres to Alexandria with the assistance of local freight companies, community groups, personal deliveries and a great deal of goodwill.

This is a wonderful community service project involving approximately 25,000 volunteers.  The Rotary Club of Sydney Cove is coordinating contact with around 80 Rotary Clubs across the State and across Districts, with the approval of District Governors.

Last year (2010) Wrap with Love delivered more than 34,000 knitted wraps for despatch to needy individuals both nationally and internationally, and Rotary’s involvement was significant.
